Baku’s architecture is not characterized by a particular architectural style, but the creations of its buildings have been representing the different religions and cultures that, have been in Baku for a long period.
Baku carries a variety of styles:
-There is an important presence of Islamic architecture in Baku. Religious sites have Islamic writings in columns, walls…

-There are many buildings inspired by imperial Russian architecture, such as the Pear Theatre and State Academic Ballet. There are a lot of Khrushchyovka buildings that are prefabricated, three to five-story low-cost apartment buildings built with bricks or panels. It was built in the time of the ancient Sobietic Union, in the 1960s.

Nowadays there are many new buildings or with postmodern architecture. A considerable number of buildings are used for businesses and companies. But also, there are residential buildings which are high constructions surrounded by neighbourhoods.
